Practice Nurse Team Leader, Joined the team in September 2016. 

Terri is currently completing her nurse prescribing course and is a lead nurse for Diabetes.

Terri is responsible for leading the nursing team, management of staff and sefrvice delivery.  Terri works closely with the Partners to delivering quality care with a highly skilled and supported nursing team.  The team includes Practice Nurses and Health Care Assistants.  In addition three of the nursing team are qualified Mentors and deliver placements for student nurses.

Education and development are a a focus for all the team and along with colleagues they support the other learners including GP Registrars, Foundation Doctors, Physician Associates, Undergraduate Medical Students and Apprentices.

Our Practice Nurse team provide care and advice for a range of health issues such as family planning, Immunisations,  cervical smear tests, medication reviews, cardiovascular and healthy living advice,  prostate injections,  blood pressure,  heart disease monitoring, prostate therapy injections,  dressings and suture removal and ear care. 

The practice nurses review and monitor all Long Term Conditions which include:  asthma, diabetes, COPD and heart disease and support your care and wellbeing.

The Practice is the centre for "Wakefield Primary Care First" a new Advanced Training scheme which develops Practice Nurses.    Cooordinates student nursing placements here and in other surgeries in the Wakefield Area.  Two of our nurses are Mentors and involved with students on placement in the surgery.  We want to bring new graduates into Primary Care.

Healthcare Assistants may provide a range of services for our patients including, phlebotomy (blood sampling): BP Monitoring: 24 Hour BP Equipment monitoring:  New Patient Health Checks:  Cardiovascular Health Checks:  ECG, Heart Tracing tests and Minor Surgery Assisting with a Doctor.

Healthcare assistants who have had extended training can also give pneumonia, flu vaccinations, B12 Injections and undertake ear syringing plus dressings and suture removal. 

They also manage the stock control, vaccine storage and monitoring:  Equipment maintenance and instrument processing for Minor surgery and other proceedures.
