Practice Management

I work closely with the partners in the strategic development of the practice.  My role includes all aspects of the business including finance, human resources, estates, complaints and service development. 

I provide an interface between partners, clinical and non-clinical staff, patients and NHS Wakefield in delivering excellence in primary care.

30 September 2017, Congratulations and farewell to Claire as she retires from the surgery after over 17 years as Practice Manager.

Kirsty Farrar Practice Manager  1st September 2017

Congratulations to Kirsty who after 10 years here is promoted to Practice Manager. 

Is responsible for the coordination of all Training and Education schedules for all the team and our learners who include GP registrars, foundation doctors and medical students who are here for various periods of time. 

Her role includes, finance, personnel, estates and coordiation of policies and procedures.  Kirsty works closely with the Practice Manager and team in ensuring support and development plans are completed and that there is excellent communication within and outside the organisation.

Mrs Lynda Speight-Heptinstall (f)

Lynda Speight-Heptinstall, Contracts Manager, joined the team in August 2017

Lynda will work as part of the management team in ensuring we fullfil our contracts and service specifications and a range of other areas of management to compliment the current team.

She brings a wealth of experience having worked at Wakefield CCG for over 5 years.

Administration

Administration Team

The administration team include 4 members of staff and together they process all the administrative support services for the practice.  Their duties include secretarial, referral management, hospital correcspondance in and out, data and information input and reporting and medical records management.  

The team has other additional responsibilities which ensure the practice patients and staff are supported, enabling us to deliver the best in Primary Care in our community.

Ms Sara Thackray (f)

Sara Thackray,  Education Coordinator

Sara is the lead person for all education and development at College Lane Surgery.  Coordinating a huge number of learners who include:

Advanced Training Practice:  Student Nursing:  GP Nurse Ready:Apprentice HCA placements and administration with Health Education England and Wakefield General Practices.  Sara organises the Mentorship training and development of practices in Wakefield for all these schemes.

GP Registrar:  Foundation Doctors:  Undergraduate Medical Student Doctors:

A vast number of training placements to coordinate their timetables, physical and financial administrations throughout the year.  Sara is an excellent administrator and ensures everyone is in the right place at the right time with the right people.

Staff Development:  Coordinating all employees training and development to ensure we meet our mandatory training and organising outside training.

Reception

Jill Nicholls and Joy Hurdiss, Reception Team Leaders 

Jill and Joy lead the reception team.  They each have a wealth of experience to share and will take the team forward as we develop new services and provide both patient and staff support.

The reception team leaders, we coordinate the activities of the reception team and patient services and clinical appointment organisation.  As a team we are a resource to support both the patients and staff here at the Practice. 

The reception team includes 10 members of staff working at both Ackworth and Thorpe Audlin.  Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries.

Receptionists will assist in dealing with any queries or re-directing these to the appropriate person.  Receptionists coordinate requests for home visits, appointments and telephone consultations. 

They also perform other important tasks such as processing repeat prescriptions and  prescription enquiries and results information.  They administer all incoming correspondence.  In addition they arrange ambulance transportation, deal with insurance reports, patient records and practice audits.
